Today there was some big movements on a lot of volume.  Here are some equivolume charts:

Rohm Haas Equivolume July 10Lehman Brothers Equivolume July 10

Rohm & Haas Company is a specialized chemical manufacturer that is going to be purchased by Dow Chemicals, which spurred a massive one day gain on tonnes of volume.  The usual rise in price of the purchasee and fall in price for the purchaser happened, but the spike in price and volume for Rohm & Haas is quite extraordinary

Lehman Brothers Holding is a three pronged financial company dealing in Capital Markets, Investment Banking, and Investment Management.  Their slide has been in step with all the other financial firms as of late, and fell more than its share today on rumors that it lost one of its biggest clients.  The fear is that if they did in fact lose that much of their business, they are headed to bankruptcy.
